Stepping off the train, the four teens raced across the small hill. When their feet hit sand, smiles appeared on their faces.
"Yay! We finally got to go to the beach!" Olette said happily, clapping her hands together.
"Yeah whatever...race ya!" Hayner exclaimed, racing forward. Olette and Pence followed quickly after.
Roxas stood a moment and laughed, following. He watched as his friends jumped into the water and swiped a bead of sweat from his brow. The sun was beating down hard on his face, making the teen hot and tired. 'Okay let's get in the water!' He thought, walking towards the water.
Roxas's bare toes touched the salty water, but something stopped him. He noticed something on the sand. Slowly bending down and picking it up, the young man held a pretty blue and yellow seashell in his hand. 'Huh. Have I seen this before?' He thought, furrowing his brow and staring intently. Slowly he enclosed the shell in his hand and sucked in a breath. 'Someone's name..' He couldn't fathom why he thought or who's name it was. But something about grabbing the seashell made him think of saying someone's name. The blonde looked up and Hayner running towards him.
"Get in the water you idiot!" Grabbing Roxas by the shoulders, the bleach blonde threw Roxas into the water with a splash.
For a moment the blue eyes teen floated in the water, thinking hard. 'The name...that name...who's name..and why?' Popping up for air, Roxas looked around. Hayner was laughing at him on the bank, Olette was floating and looking at the sky, and Pence was underwater somewhere. 'I'll get Hayner for this!' He thought, running out of the water and dragging his friend into the water with him.
"AHH!" He yelled, flying into the sea.
Stopping a moment, Roxas looked back at the seashell laying on the sand a moment. "What name? Oh forget it." He mumbled, jumping back in and playing with his friends.
Slowly a wave washed onto the beach, wiping the seashell from sight, never appearing again.
Axel walked down the white hall, arms crossed. 'Roxas is stuck in that stupid virtual town...we need him back.' He thought with a sigh, stopping and leaning against the wall. 'Lord Xemnas sure is a stick in the mud. Doesn't he know that Roxas just doesn't remember?!' The green eyed Nobody closed his eyes and thought hard. 'Maybe if I'm quick...get him back real quick. Then he'll remember and things can be normal. We'll sit on the clock tower...the REAL one, and eat ice cream like the good ol days.'
Number VIII stood up fully and strode down the hall, towards Roxas' old room. Maybe he could find an item to help him remember. Stopping at the door, he peaked in. There was nothing there. Roxas left nothing behind...how...anticlimactic. Axel sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, turning. As he started to walk away, something stopped him. "Hmm?" He turned and looked, but no one was there.
In the shadow of the hall, Axel noticed another door, adjacent from Roxas' room. His short red eyebrows furrowed. 'Don't remember who stayed there...was it Larxene's room? Naw she was down that way.' He motioned across the long hall and then moved forward. 'Whoever it is...has been gone awhile. The name or number isn't even on the door anymore.'
The Flurry of Dancing flames quietly opened the door a crack. When no sound came, he opened it the whole way and looked around. The room had an air of familiarity but nothing to significant. White bed in the corner, window on the east wall...a desk with a mirror. As he turned to leave, Axel noticed a splash of color. With curiosity, boots clicking on the floor, he walked over to the desk. At least 10 seashells were laid out, all beautiful shades of pinks, blues and yellows.
"Okay...who was in this room before?" The Nobody picked up one of the shells and felt a shock run down his body.
'They're gonna DESTROY YOU!" Dropping the shell, the usually calm man stumbled back and looked around in confusion. 'That was my voice. What the heck is goin on...?'
Slowly he turned and closed the door behind him, not bothering to look back. "Doesn't matter. Whoever was in there is long gone. I've got stuff to do, anyways." Walking into the darkness, Axel disappeared.
Back in the room, slowly, ever so slowly...the seashells faded away, never to be seen again.
